Local Tips & Advice

Please note the majority of tracks and trails in both National Parks and State Forests are dual purpose. You may encounter walkers, vehicles, log trucks, horseriders or other users.

At times areas within both National Parks and NSW Forests  may be closed or have limited access due to weather, fire or logging operations.

Mountain Biking in the Tumut Region

The Tumut Region has hundreds of kilometres of  trails winding through native and plantation forests.  Experience stunning views on trails suitable for the whole family or for the more adventerous find that challenging downhill run that would test the skill of the most experienced rider.

Tumut State Forest Recreational trails are made up of three sign posted loops with more than 7km of native bushland trails. These trails vary in their degree of difficulty with intermediate to advanced tracks.  Access is off Fairway Drive in the Sarah Jeffrey Reserve near the Golf Club.

Kosciuszko National Park has some of the most scenic and challenging mountain bike trails. Ride to pioneer huts or test yourself on some adrenalin charged descents.  Whatever your pace, make sure when in the Park to ride only on management trails, not walking tracks.
